Carmen Gota, MD was was born in Transylvania, Romania. She was raised by her uncle, a respected internal medicine physician, who inspired her to become a physician.
She graduated first in her class in 1989 and went on to become an internal medicine specialist and assistant professor of clinical skills for third year medical students. After coming to the US, she completed an internal medicine residency at Lenox Hill, in New York City, followed by a rheumatology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic.
After a year in private practice in Walnut Creek, CA, she returned to Cleveland Clinic where she found the opportunity to take care of patients with a vast variety of rheumatological conditions. After traveling to Utah, she fell in love with the southwest and decided to relocate here, using her rheumatology skills to serve the greater St. George community.
Dr. Gota has two grown children and is married to her husband of 30 years who is a critical care-trained anesthesiologist. She loves running, hiking, swimming, reading, and spending time with her family and their two adorable dogs, Cora and Wigs.
